Raising the Dead The
scriptures plainly teach that the whole of the Godhead were
equally involved in raising Christ from the dead:
1. John 2:19 “Jesus
answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in
three days I will raise it up. 20 Then said the Jews,
Forty and six years was this temple in building, and
wilt thou rear it up in three days? 21 But he spake of
the temple of his body.”
2. John 10:17 “Therefore
doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that
I might take it again. 18 No man taketh it from me, but
I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down,
and I have power to take it again. This commandment have
I received of my Father.”
2. Acts 2:24 “Whom God
hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death:
because it was not possible that he should be holden of
it.”
3. Acts 2:32 “This Jesus
hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses.”
4. Acts 3:15 “And killed
the Prince of life, whom God hath raised from the dead;
whereof we are witnesses.”
5. Acts 4:10 “Be it known
unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by
the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified,
whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man
stand here before you whole.”
6. Rom. 8:11 “But if the
Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell
in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall
also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that
dwelleth in you.”
7. 1 Pet. 3:18 “For Christ
also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the
unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to
death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:”
From the above, it is
abundantly clear that the Father, the Son, and the Holy
Spirit were all instrumental in raising Christ from the
dead. It is also true that the Father, the Son, and
the Holy Spirit will also be instrumental in raising our
dead bodies from the grave:
1. John 6:44 “No man can
come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw
him: and I will raise him up at the last day.”
2. John 12:1 “Then Jesus
six days before the passover came to Bethany, where
Lazarus was which had been dead, whom he raised from the
dead.”
3. Rom. 8:11 “But if the
Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell
in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall
also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that
dwelleth in you.”
4. 1 Cor. 6:14 “And God
hath both raised up the Lord, and will also raise up us
by his own power.”
The work of raising the dead
is clearly taught by the scriptures as a work of the
Godhead. Likewise the work of raising those dead in
trespasses and sins into spiritual life is a work of the
Godhead. The scriptures bear out that the Father and the Son
and the Holy Spirit all have part in raising the dead as the
following verses attest:
1. Eph. 2:1 “And you hath
he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins:”
2. John 6:63 “It is the
spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the
words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they
are life.”
3. Eph 2:5 “Even when we
were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with
Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)”
